There plenty of teams that are big underdogs in World Cup betting but 4 really jump out.
Honduras, New Zealand and North Korea (Korea DPR) are each 500-1 in World Cup probabilities. Algeria is 200-1 but because they might not get a point in Group C, you can chuck them in as a huge longshot.
World Cup betting shows Japan and South Korea with higher probabilities than Algeria but every one of those teams at the least has a chance to obtain a point. It appears pretty improbable that New Zealand, Honduras, North Korea or Algeria will get a point in the World Cup. North Korea will be playing in the toughest group, putting them in serious trouble. They’ll be fortunate to actually stay competitive in Group G. Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast are likely to defeat them. The question is not if North Korea can get a point; the question could possibly be whether they actually score a goal. Out of all the teams in the 2010 World Cup, North Korea seems to be the weakest.
Honduras seems to have pretty little chance in their group. They must play Spain, Chile and Switzerland in Group H. They’re unlikely to get anything vs Spain or Chile so it comes down to the match vs Switzerland to see if they can get a point. It is only the second World Cup in history for Honduras. The team played a friendly vs Belarus recently and the entire team looked weak in a 2-2 draw.
At least New Zealand will play in a group that looks to be low scoring, despite the fact that they seem to be in over their head in World Cup probabilities. The Italian team is not full of effective scorers, despite the fact that Group F likes Italy. Paraguay will not score a ton of goals and this is Slovakia’s 1st World Cup. New Zealand is not pretty good but they could be fortunate and squeak out a point in Group F and if they do, they could decide who moves forward.
Algeria competes in a tough group with England and the United States but they are at least a team with a chance. England is in one of the favorites in World Cup betting and the United States has been tough but Algeria can at least be competitive vs both teams. It is pretty improbable they will advance from Group C but they could steal a point or two.
The FIFA World Cup for 2010 will begin on June 11th and is expected to run through July 11th. This is the first time ever that the World Cup has been hosted by an African nation. South Africa beat out Morocco and Egypt for the honor. The FIFA World Cup is held once every four years and features 32 teams from different nations competing against each other for the championship in football. This event has historically been dominated by Brazil, which holds a record five titles and is the only team to have played in every tournament. The current champion is Italy, which has won the title four times total. The next World Cup will be held in 2014 in Brazil.
