Rich Franklin is liked at the sports book as he confronts Chuck Liddell on Saturday in UFC 115 at Vancouver’s General Motors Palace.
This will be the fourth UFC competition held in Canada and conceivably the most well-known one at the online sports book. The competition was the quickest sellout in UFC history.
Sports Book odds list Franklin as a slight favorite at -150 over Liddell with this main event match up. The competition is the main one on an 11-fight card in UFC 115 on Saturday. The match up should get fantastic competition at the online sports book because both Liddell and Franklin are pretty well-known. Franklin is a former UFC Middleweight Champ while Liddell is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champ. Both competitors are coming away from a loss as Liddell was KO’ed by current Light Heavyweight Champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua as Franklin was knocked out by UFC Middleweight competitor Vitor Belfort. Liddell had been one of the initial competitors to put the UFC on the map. He went 14-1 with his only failure to Randy Couture from 2000 to 2006. At 40-years old, many people question if Liddell can nevertheless be a headliner so this will be a major test for the Hall of Fame competitor. The UFC odds are close on this competition between Liddell and Franklin so the odds makers think that Liddell has an opportunity to win.
Liddell is 1-4 in his last five bouts and has been knocked out in three of them. He’s perhaps the most well-known competitor in Ultimate Fighting Championship history. He hasn’t landed a knockout or TKO himself since he stopped bitter rival Tito Ortiz on Dec. 30, 2006. He is legendary for his punching power, but one of the tips to his achievements has long been his ability to take a possibility and keep coming.
Like Liddell, Franklin, 35, is a former champion who would need a couple of victories to compete again and may not have many years left to get them. Liddell, 40, is more aged than Franklin, but Franklin doesn’t want to fight forever. He is not truly certain what’s next in his match up career or whatever else.
Furthermore for the main card in UFC 115 it’ll be Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic facing Pat Barry. This match should also be an fantastic one as Barry is a slight -150 favorite at the sports book. It will be a fun match up to watch since both of these competitors have fantastic kickboxing skills.
The other three bouts on the sports book odds board for the main pay-per-view card have Paulo Thiago competing with Martin Kampmann, Ben Rothwell versus Gilbert Yvel and Carlos Condit versus Rory MacDonald. Two of the 6 bouts that are on the preliminary card will be broadcast on Spike TV. Those 2 are Tyson Griffin versus Evan Dunham and Mac Danzig versus Matt Wiman. The other 4 bouts for the preliminary card are David Loiseau versus Mario Miranda, James Wilks versus Peter Sobotta, Ricardo Funch versus Claude Patrick and Mike Pyle versus Jesse Lennox.
