A powerful argument may very well be made that no 2 teams in pro football are in more of a tailspin than the Bills and the Jets. The Nov 27 game will grant one of these teams a shot to save their year. At the beginning of the year, the teams had distinct expectations. Entering this year head coach Rex Ryan was forecasting this would at last be the year they would move forward to the Superbowl as the New York Jets have been to the last 2 AFC Tournament competitions. The Bills, alternatively, have not had a winning year since 2004 and were a depressing 4-12 a year ago.

The Bills surprised the league by starting off 5-2 behind the stellar running of Fred Jackson and smart game managing of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Bills’ bid for their 1st winning year in years has become less encouraging, however, as they have lost their last 3 competitions. The New York Jets have been sporadic all year. They won their 1st 2 competitions, then lost their next 3, won 3 back to back following that, then slipped 2 more back to back. Both teams are now 5-5.

It’s a match that could be critical for both teams on Nov 27 when the Bills play at the New York Jets. New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, who is prone to making misguided throws, could have things made hard for him by the Bills opportunistic defense. But only 3 weeks ago the New York Jets pounded the Bills 27-11 in Buffalo and lately that Bills defense hasn’t been effective in stopping anybody. Whereas both teams are troubled, it seems the Bills are the team that has totally fallen apart, losing their last 3 competitions by a combined score of 106-26. Entering New York to play a New York Jets defense that is seeking to make a statement may not be the way for the Bills to right the ship.
